Dr. Jianhong Liu is a veterinarian with a Ph.D. in Basic Veterinary Medicine. He is also a postdoctoral researcher in ecology at the School of Life Sciences, South China Normal University. Dr. Liu graduated in 1999 from the Department of Veterinary Medicine at South China Agricultural University, where he received multiple honors, including the Roche Scholarship and the Suiping Scholarship. Notably, he was one of the few outstanding undergraduate students to possess complete credentials, including graduation certificates, degree certificates, CET-6 (College English Test Band 6), and a Level 2 computer certificate. He was also nominated for a study opportunity at Kasetsart University in Thailand.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Liu joined a large state-owned agricultural and animal husbandry enterprise, the Yantang Enterprise General Company of Guangdong Agricultural Reclamation Group, where he worked in the veterinary field. His responsibilities included clinical practice, research, and diagnosis of animal diseases. From 2001 to 2004, he collaborated with veterinary clinical researchers from the Experimental Animal Center of the First Military Medical University and the College of Veterinary Medicine at Northwest A&F University. During this period, he contributed to the diagnosis, prevention, surgery, comprehensive treatment, and development of various pet drugs and biological products for small experimental animals. His work provided him with extensive clinical experience and interpersonal communication skills.
In late 2005, Dr. Liu became the Technical Manager of the Pet Division in the South China region at Merial International Corporation, where he gained recognition as an industry expert.
From September 2006 to July 2012, he pursued postgraduate studies (master’s and doctoral) at the School of Veterinary Medicine, South China Agricultural University. Starting in September 2012, he held the position of Special Appointed Pet Diagnosis and Treatment Expert at the Animal Health Research Institute of Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He also engaged in full-time postdoctoral research. In early 2014, he joined the School of Life Sciences at South China Normal University, focusing on research in animal neurophysiology. Dr. Liu teaches courses on Animal Neurophysiology and Experimental Animal Anatomy. Over the years, he has published more than 10 industry- and academically related papers, including two SCI-indexed papers with international impact. His current scientific research primarily revolves around neuropathology, physiology, pharmacology, and behavior in small animal models.

- Guiding Expert at the Pet Medical and Nursing Vocational Research and Development Base of Guangzhou Technician College
- Agricultural Technical Trainer for the “Sunshine Project” Entrepreneurship Training Program by the Ministry of Agriculture
